Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto
Over the past year, Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto has been a major recipient of MVSF donations. At Gilda’s Club, men, women, teens and children living with cancer share their experiences and learn to live with cancer, whatever the outcome. They are committed to providing a warm, welcoming environment where individuals touched by cancer can build social and emotional support through the exchange of personal wisdom, ideas, and information.
The MVSF will be acting as a major sponsor in support of Kids Camp in the City, which is being launched by Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto in the spring/summer of 2005. The camp will enable kids to come and enjoy the activities of other kid’s camps but knowing they are not alone in the situation when cancer is diagnosed in their lives.
The foundation is very proud and pleased to be a funding partner with Gilda’s Club, and we look forward to continuing to build this partnership in ensuing years.

The Princess Margaret
Hospital
PMH is Canada's largest cancer research and treatment hospital. Clinical
and research staff at PMH represent many of the world's leading experts
in oncology, with specialties including surgical oncology, bone marrow
transplantation, chemotherapy, radiation oncology, psychosocial oncology,
hematology, medical imaging and radiation therapy. The hospital is
located in downtown Toronto.
PMH shares our vision passionately, through their desire to improve
the lives of cancer patients across the country. Particularly, their
psychosocial programs which address the emotional, informational,
and social needs of the patient, and their families, matches well
with our mandate.
Their Magic Castle program has received substantial funding
from the MVSF. The Castle is a play area for children located within
the hospital. This educational facility teaches children about cancer
in a friendly and comfortable environment, while parents and caregivers
receive their treatments. The MVSF has also funded Dr. Jim Woodgett's
microarray program. Dr. Woodgett is a leading proponent of gene chip
therapy, in treating future cancer patients. Finally, the MVSF has
hosted a Christmas Party at the hospital in each of the last three
years, where pediatric patients and their families are invited to
share in the best of the season.

that address the emotional, social, informational, and emotional needs
of people living with cancer and those who care for them.
Wellspring shares our vision by working to improve the lives of cancer
patients through their programs and services.
Through MVSF special events, including our upcoming 3rd Annual Charity
Golf Event, we have provided funding for several of Wellspring's social
programs, including bereavement counselling, children's support group,
and parent's support group. The MVSF is currently collaborating with
Wellspring Halton-Peel on plans to provide partial funding for a proposed
daycare facility for children whose parents or caregivers have been

MVSF's Education
Fund
This recently created program provides designated funds to individual
family members who have lost loved ones to cancer. Recently, the MVSF
made a $3,000 donation to a local family, in support of the education
of three children.
This program parallels our mandate of helping families and individuals
meet their social and emotional needs, that have arisen due to the
loss of a loved one from cancer.
We will continue to make these types of donations to qualified families
through out the course of the year. Again, for more information, please
contact the MVSF directly.
